BISG

BISG administers the Product Data Certification Program (PDCP). Product data is evaluated against BISG Product Data Best Practices, including checks for the presence or absence of the core metadata elements described in Chapter 9. Data must be submitted in ONIX or Excel format. ONIX files are tested for conformance with the EDiTEUR DTD and for valid XML format, and Excel files are checked for conformance with BookNet Canada’s Bronze template. Companies meeting criteria for best practice and timeliness are certified by BISG as “Quality Information Providers” at Gold, Silver, or Bronze levels. Certification is good for one year and requires annual recertification.
